Amidst the fresh scent of rain-soaked earth and the glistening greenery of our beloved estate, a heartwarming event unfolded—a gathering of the wise and wonderful souls who call our community home. The “Senior Residents’ Tea Party” was a delightful and unforgettable occasion that brought together our elderly residents for an afternoon of camaraderie, connection, and, of course, a splendid assortment of teas and treats.

The event was a resounding success despite the unexpected rain showers the day before. The Senior Residents’ Tea Party exuded an air of timeless grace. As the attendees took their seats, a sense of anticipation and excitement filled the air. The primary goal of this event was to create an environment where our older residents could connect with one another. Many of them have lived in our estate since its inception but as life goes on, it’s not uncommon for neighbours to remain strangers. The Senior Residents’ Tea Party aimed to change that by fostering conversations and forging bonds that would stand the test of time.

Residents shared stories of their journeys, both in life and within the estate. They laughed about the trials and tribulations of raising families here and reminisced about how much the community has evolved over the years. This event was more than just tea and pastries; it was an opportunity for our senior residents to rediscover the wealth of knowledge, experience, and wisdom that exists within our estate’s walls. One of the most exciting aspects of the Senior Residents’ Tea Party was the announcement of a new initiative—an exclusive forum for our senior residents. From Zumba for seniors to gardening groups our senior residents are already buzzing with ideas for activities and events they want to organise. This initiative not only empowers them to take charge of their social lives within the estate but also ensures that the traditions and stories of our community are preserved and celebrated for generations to come. The Senior Residents’ Tea Party was more than just an event; it was a testament to the enduring spirit of our community. It reminded us that age is but a number and that there’s an incredible wealth of experience and wisdom right on our doorstep.

Sparkling Success: Unity Gardens’ Hosts Kids Fashion Show

The Unity Gardens’ August Holiday Kids Fashion Show was an event that will be remembered for its flair, enthusiasm, and the bond it created within the community. The Unity Gardens’ community hall was brimming with excitement and style as the August holidays witnessed an unforgettable Kids Fashion Show. This delightful competition brought together young kids of the estate, who showcased their flair for fashion and creativity on the runway.

The event was a spectacular success, with children from the Unity Gardens neighbourhood strutting their stuff on the catwalk in front of a captivated audience. The atmosphere was electric as the young models confidently showcased their unique outfits, each reflecting their individual personalities and preferences. The Unity Gardens’ August Holiday Kids Fashion Show was not just about fashion; it was a celebration of confidence and creativity. The community hall was transformed into a vibrant and dynamic runway, complete with catchy music that perfectly complemented the kids’ outfits. From elegant dresses to funky accessories, the young participants turned heads and left everyone in awe.

A Spirited Showdown: Unity Homes FC Triumphs 4-2 Against Black Warriors

Sunday, the 6th of August, marked an exciting and friendly football match that brought together sports enthusiasts from all around the Membley area. The Unity Homes Football Club clashed with the spirited Black Warriors in a game that showcased not only the prowess of the players but also a sense of camaraderie that transcended the competition. 

The atmosphere at the Membley grounds was electric, as fans gathered to witness the showdown between Unity Homes FC and Black Warriors. Adding to the anticipation, Unity Homes FC proudly unveiled their brand-new jerseys just before kick-off, sending a wave of excitement through the crowd.

The match was marked by swift passes, skilful dribbles, and breathtaking goals. The spectators were treated to a display of pure footballing artistry. The midfield battle was intense, with players from both teams showcasing their abilities to control the ball and set up attacking plays. 

As the clock ticked on, Unity Homes FC managed to break through the Black Warriors’ defence, securing a well-deserved lead. Their efforts culminated in a thrilling 4-2 victory at full time. The jubilant celebrations of the Unity Homes FC players and their supporters painted a vivid picture of the exhilaration that comes from a hard-fought win. However, the result did not dampen the spirits of the Black Warriors, who displayed admirable sportsmanship throughout the match. The post-match interactions between the two teams highlighted the bond that football creates, transcending rivalries and uniting players and fans alike.

Growing a Green Future: Kids Recycling Fiesta at Unity Homes

In a world where environmental consciousness is gaining momentum, it is crucial to instil eco-friendly values in the minds of the younger generation. Our Community Foundation (OCF) took an innovative step towards promoting sustainability and educating children about the importance of recycling. Together with Unity Homes’ landscaping team, OCF organised a delightful and educational event for kids – a “Kids Recycling Fiesta.” The fiesta aimed to teach children how to utilise recycled materials for planting lavender, geranium, and rosemary plants and foster a love for nature and the environment.


The Kids Recycling Fiesta brought together children from the community, offering them an exciting opportunity to explore the world of recycling and sustainable gardening. The event was a perfect blend of education and fun, ensuring that the young minds absorbed valuable lessons while enjoying themselves.

The landscaping team set up an interactive station where the kids could learn about recycling and witness firsthand how used materials can be transformed into plant pots and containers. The little ones were amazed to see how plastic bottles, cardboard, and old tin cans can be creatively repurposed as plant holders, reducing waste and contributing to a cleaner environment.


The highlight of the event was the hands-on gardening session. Equipped with their recycled cans, the children enthusiastically planted lavender, geranium, and rosemary saplings, guided by an experienced landscaper/gardener from Unity Homes’ landscaping team. They learned about the significance of each plant and its role in supporting biodiversity and maintaining a healthy ecosystem. The kids were thrilled to get their hands dirty, nurturing the plants with care and understanding the value of responsible gardening. The event not only encouraged sustainable practices but also instilled a sense of pride and responsibility in the kids as they watched their plants take root.

The Kids Recycling Fiesta at Unity Homes achieved its goal of educating and engaging young minds in the noble pursuit of recycling and sustainable gardening. By nurturing environmental consciousness from a young age, Unity Homes is cultivating a generation of eco-conscious citizens who will carry the torch of sustainability into the future.
